What is MITF?

Masa Israel Teaching Fellows is a 10-month fellowship for Jewish college graduates, between the ages of 21 and 35, who want to make a difference. Contribute to the future success of Israeli children by giving them the essential basis of native spoken English. No Hebrew or teaching experience? No Problem! If you're nervous about not knowing enough Hebrew, we find that it is more beneficial for the students to learn from you and with you! Gain transferrable career skills and get trained to teach, all while getting paid and immersing yourself in Israeli society! On MITF you'll become an integral member of the city in which you live, teach and volunteer.

MITF is a partnership between Masa Israel Journey and the Ministry of Education. Masa Israel offers a uniquely transformative experience; we believe that Israel is the perfect platform for young adults who are eager to explore, experience, and develop skills for a lifetime of achievement.

Be'er Sheva

Known as the capital of the Negev Desert, Be’er Sheva is one of Israel’s fastest growing cities in Israel. Home to Ben Gurion University, Be’er Sheva has a large student population and a vibrant culture for young adults. As a result, the area around the university has a college town feel, filled with entertaining nightlife.

Be’er Sheva also has a large immigrant population and many Bedouin communities in the nearby areas. Fellows are also encouraged to volunteer with these communities based on their own background and interests, and consequently, be an even greater asset and better understand local issues of coexistence.

Jerusalem

Established over 3,000 years ago, the city of Jerusalem offers you the chance to literally reach out and touch the past. Known as the ‘City of Gold’, Jerusalem is a magical mix of ancient and modern, where outdoor shuks (markets) rub shoulders with gleaming office towers. Assist an English teacher in a local elementary or middle school in Jerusalem, and help provide students with equal educational opportunity.

Netanya

Located only 30 minutes north of Tel Aviv, Netanya serves as a vital social and economic link between the northern and southern parts of Israel. Netanya is home to many start-ups and hi-tech companies. Immigrants make up 35% of the population, mostly coming from France and Ethiopia.

With its seemingly never-ending promenades, Netanya’s nine miles of white sand beaches, wild cliffs, and green parks rank among the most beautiful in the world. In addition to teaching English, you will work on secondary community volunteer projects for approximately three hours each week.
